Lacquer Pre Coat (primer) is a water-based lacquer formulated with polymer resins, essential for achieving high print quality and durability.
Primer Pre Coat is used for various applications, including direct printing with solvent-based or UV-cured inks. It enhances ink adhesion to the substrate, preventing ink bleeding.
It also prepares the surface of natural fiber fabrics to accept sublimation ink, facilitating sublimation. When used for sublimation on rigid media, Primer Pre Coat creates a layer that facilitates ink penetration into the substrate.
Furthermore, Primer Pre Coat provides a flexible and transparent coating that does not crack or yellow.

Application
Primer Pre Coat 1 is a water-based primer made from polymer resin dispersion. It is designed for digital printing on various substrates, including metal, glass, ceramics, and melamine. It allows for direct printing with solvent ink on these substrates. When using UV-curable ink, the adhesion of the ink to the surface coated with lacquer is significantly improved compared to the surface without the initial lacquer layer. This leads to improved adhesion of the ink to the surface and greater resistance to physical damage.
Primer Pre Coat 2 is an undercoat primer designed for sublimation transfer onto cotton and other natural fibres such as silk, linen, and wool. It is formulated with a water-based polymer resin dispersion, making it water-soluble. After drying (polymerisation), it becomes waterproof. The primer creates a thin, flexible, uniform, and smooth polymer layer on the fabric surface.
To prepare natural fibers, including 100% cotton, for sublimation transfer, it is essential to apply Primer Pre Coat 2 evenly across the entire printing area. Careful application is crucial as Primer Pre Coat 2 is highly resistant to washing. Use appropriate forms or templates to ensure even application. Typically, a screen is used to coat the surface intended for sublimation with Primer Pre Coat 2, ensuring a uniform lacquer layer. Alternatively, a roller for dense acrylic paints or a compressed air gun can also be used.
The properly lacquered surface should be thoroughly dried. The drying process can be accelerated, for example, using a source of warm air or a press. We recommend conducting your own tests to determine the optimal thickness of the Primer Pre Coat 2 layer for sublimation transfer. A surface thinly covered with lacquer before printing may result in low color intensity after sublimation, while a too thick layer of lacquer may stiffen the fabric and cause blurring of the print contours (diffusion).
Typically, the sublimation transfer temperature is around 180°C, and the transfer time is about 60 seconds. After completing the sublimation transfer process, it is necessary to wash the finished sublimation printout to achieve flexibility. The printout after sublimation transfer is durable, but full polymerization takes about 24 hours, after which the printout reaches its maximum durability.
For achieving very intense colors and even greater printout durability, it is recommended to preheat the Primer Pre Coat 2 lacquer-coated fabric (after drying) for 2 minutes at 150°C before starting the sublimation transfer process. Optimal results are achieved when the lacquer is applied to dense fabric using a screen.

Application
Primer Pre Coat 5 is a primer specifically formulated for sublimation onto various rigid media, including ceramics, glass, metal, wood, hard plastics, OSB boards, furniture boards, and solid cardboards.
Primer Pre Coat 5 is a single-component, autocatalytic water-based system. It is free from harmful or toxic substances and generates no waste requiring disposal, producing prints that are suitable for washing with household cleaning agents.
Primer Pre Coat 5 can be applied using a brush, roller, soaking method (for non-absorbent elements), spraying, or with a pad.
The sublimation transfer can be carried out once the substrate has dried within the temperature range of 190ºC to 210ºC.
